Colleges In 2008, the F. Melius Christiansen Endowment Fund Committee announced the newest event in The Star of the North Festival Concert Series: The 2009 Minnesota Collegiate Choral Festival. All Minnesota collegiate mixed choirs, men’s choirs, women’s choirs and two-year college choirs from institutions that were not participants in the 2006 135th F. Melius Christiansen anniversary concerts were welcome to audition. Each auditioning choir submitted a CD recording of two selections of contrasting nature, including one a cappella selection. Selections had to have been from the 2007-2008 or 2008-2009 academic year. A listening committee comprised of choral directors from various educational groups and community organizations judged the audition recordings. Five choirs were chosen through this blind audition process to participate in this first-ever event:
